Eligible Applicants:
Foreign nationals who are at least 18 years old, hold a secondary school graduation certificate or post-secondary degree, possess an excellent academic record, and demonstrate good moral character.

Academic Restrictions & Compliance Disqualifications:
You CANNOT apply if any of the following apply to you:

  • Holders of Republic of China (Taiwan) passport or overseas compatriot student status.
  • Individuals currently registered or holding active enrollment status at any university or college in Taiwan at the same educational level.
  • Exchange students currently studying or doing research in Taiwan pursuant to an academic cooperation agreement.
  • Previous recipients who have already exceeded the cumulative maximum duration limit of 5 years for Taiwan Scholarships.
  • Individuals whose prior MOE Taiwan Scholarship or Huayu Enrichment Scholarship was officially revoked.
  • Recipients concurrently receiving a scholarship or financial assistance from any other Taiwan government agency or educational institution.

Application Process

6 Steps to secure your MOE Huayu Enrichment Scholarship
Crucial Deadline & Jurisdiction Note:
The annual application period is generally from January to February. Precise deadlines and selection regulations are strictly subject to localized adjustments. You MUST apply directly through the specific Taiwan Representative Office that has jurisdiction over your country of nationality.

◆ Step-by-Step Procedures ◆

  • Step 01. Submit Application to Overseas Mission & Apply to Language Center Submit your complete scholarship application package to the authorized Taiwan Representative Office in your country of nationality.
  • Step 02. Attend the Screening Interview Participate in the interview or review process organized by your local Taiwan Overseas Mission (except for specific exempt conditions).
  • Step 03. Submit Admission Notice for Confirmation Once you receive the official Admission Notice from your chosen language center, send a copy to the Overseas Mission before June 30 to secure eligibility.
  • Step 04. Receive Official Certificate Successful award recipients will be finalized and issued an official HES Scholarship Eligibility Certificate from the Overseas Mission.
  • Step 05. Travel to Taiwan & Register Arrive in Taiwan, complete registration at your designated language center, and purchase necessary insurance policies.
  • Step 06. Monthly Allowance Disbursement The Chinese language center will distribute your monthly stipend of NTD 28,000, monitored closely based on your attendance and academic performance.

Once awarded, recipients must abide by compliance regulations at the Language Center:

Class Attendance Regulations: If a scholarship recipient misses 12 hours or more of required language classes within a single month, their scholarship allowance will be suspended for one month.
Academic Grade Requirements: For recipients with a duration of 6 months or longer, an average academic mark below 80 will result in a 1-month stipend suspension in the subsequent term. Falling below 80 for two consecutive terms leads to permanent revocation.
