International Master's Program of Learning & Instruction

-PROGRAM DESCRIPTION-

All-English Master's in Education, at the heart of Taipei!

Whether you are passionate about education, looking to upgrade your skill set and improve your career prospects abroad and locally, or eager to expand your network in the education industry in Taiwan, National Taipei University of Education (NTUE) warmly and proudly welcomes you to apply to the two-year and all-English International Master's Program of Learning and Instruction (IMPLAI).

NTUE was founded in 1895 and has an extensive history in teacher-training. It is the only university in Taipei, out of a total of two in all of Taiwan, to offer primary school Taiwanese teacher training. The IMPLAI program was founded in 2017 and has been growing and fostering a community of international educators in Taiwan. Our program is small, intimate and diverse.

It is possible, and many of our students do, to work part time and pursue this master's. NTUE does offer a work permit under existing government regulations that allows enrolled students to work up to 20 hours per week in order to better support themselves and without worrying about being sponsored by an employer.

Additionally, many of our graduating students receive more competitive work offers after completing the program. This program is highly recommended to those who are interested in the following career prospects:
-teaching (all levels and content areas)
-teacher training
-teaching and learning material designer and content creator
-human resources training
-any other profession relating to learning and instruction

*Please note the program itself does not offer a teaching license, though many of our graduates have successfully transferred the program's M.Ed. diploma to aid in and speed up the process of obtaining a teaching license in their home country, which also qualifies them to teach under Taiwanese government programs and many international schools.

Our courses provide teachers and educators with a solid foundation in:
-learning theories, allowing for effective student-centered classes and class management;
-instructional design and development, ensuring you will graduate with the ability to design lesson plans in the subject of choice, based on existing literature;
-forms of assessment, giving you the means to communicate progress and required improvements as a teacher and/or syllabus designer;
-seminars with instructors across various fields, offering insight into multiple disciplines;
-research methodology, equipping you with a basic understanding of how research is conducted in social sciences, and ultimately to plan and conduct your own independent research on a topic you care deeply about;
-academic writing, providing you with the opportunity to practice presenting your research;
-lectures with international and local guest speakers, expanding your network.
-field trips (both day trips and overnight trips) around Taiwan

*Complimentary Mandarin courses for one semester at the NTUE Mandarin Center for students who are interested. Our students report this as being very helpful for navigating day-to-day life in Taipei!

Additionally, our campus is conveniently located just a stone's throw from the Technology Building MRT Station, just a few stops away form Da'an Park, and a few steps away from multiple restaurants and cafés.

International student application starts early February, more information will be updated onto our official platforms shortly.
